Storage Tips

Disassemble furniture such as tables and beds marking all pieces so you can easily put them together.

Use the space inside appliances to store other smaller items.

Use boxes that are uniform in size and remember all boxes should be full and when stacked, the heaviest at the bottom.

Books should be packed flat to protect their spines and should be put in small boxes to ease lifting.

Boxes are your best protection. Use uniform sizes where possible and store them shoulder high.

Do not place sharp objects on top of upholstered furniture.

Protect soft furnishings with plastic covers.

Breakables should be wrapped in bubble wrap and then packed in boxes.

Keep weight of packed cartons under 15kg. Go easy on your back.

Identify all boxes with a marking pen describing contents.

Tape all appliance doors shut when moving but wedge doors open while in storage.

Store clothing that normally hangs in a wardrobe in a port-a-robe.
